THANKS SO
MUCH!! WE RAISED THE FENCE MONEY !!!
Wilmington Dog
Park Committee in Partnership with City of Wilmington's, Parks,
Recreation & Downtown Services Division has set-up the fund
raising account. We raised the money!!
The City has
donated almost 2 acres at Empie Park. We have the land, water,
benches, shade trees, grass, BIG Dog and SMALL
Dog sections, and parking
covered. All we need now is for the City Council to approve a purchase
order for the fence.
WILMINGTON
DOG PARK @ EMPIE
PARK
RULES
General Information:
The City of Wilmington Parks, Recreations
& Downtown Services and Wilmington Dog Park Committee have joined
together to develop and implement this dog park.
We encourage the responsible use of this facility by all
community owners and their dogs.
However, we do require that people read and follow the rules
listed at each entrance. SELF-REGULATION is the cornerstone on which
Wilmington Dog Park @ Empie will successfully operate.
A commitment to following all of the park rules is essential to
its safe and enjoyable operation.
In order to foster a pleasant and sanitary
environment, bags will be provided at various pet waste stations
within Wilmington Dog Park, with appropriate refuse receptacles at
each entrance/exit, for the proper disposal of your dog’s waste.
We cannot emphasize too strongly that this is a fundamental
requirement of using Wilmington Dog Park.
It is of the utmost importance that we
maintain a high degree of safety for all of those using Empie Park,
both canine and human. People
using the park must ALWAYS be aware that with dogs running free,
caution and a reasonable degree of vigilance MUST be observed.
Our goal is to share this space and create a positive and
friendly atmosphere that all can enjoy.
Additionally, owners of small dogs must be aware that their
dogs may be at increased risk of injury due to their small size and
the presence of many larger dogs using Wilmington Dog Park @ Empie.
IT IS OF PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE THAT PARENTS OF
YOUNG CHILDREN CLOSELY SUPERVISE THEM WHENEVER THEY ARE IN THE WILMINGTON DOG PARK.
THE EXPECTATION IS THAT CHILDREN
WILL BE IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY (ARMS LENGTH) OF AN ADULT. WE HOPE THAT WILMINGTON DOG PARK WILL GIVE CHILDREN THE
OPPORTUNITY TO MEET LOTS OF FRIENDLY DOGS, AND THAT THEY WILL HAVE AN
ENJOYABLE AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE, HOWEVER, CAUTION MUST ALWAYS BE OBSERVED WHEN SHARING SPACE
WITH DOGS.
